President’s Message
It has been a busy couple of months and I’m sure the next few months will be equally busy. Thanks to all those who helped with the noon Lenten lunches and also those who helped with Bingo at Belle Plaine on March 10.There are several items I wanted to mention. The OWLS convention in St. Cloud was originally scheduled for July 8–10 and promoted as such but the hotel made a mistake and scheduled it for July 15–17. When the mistake was discovered, they had already scheduled another event for the 8–10 dates – so the OWLS had to change their dates to the 15–17. The bridge closing in St. Cloud will not affect our getting to the Holiday Inn.
We have been contacted by St. John’s Lutheran Church in Red Wing about their interest in starting an OWLS chapter. We have invited them to attend our April 1 meeting and will go to Red Wing later to hold an informational meeting there. If anyone would like to be involved in this endeavor, let me know.
Happy Spring! Duane Hadler

Those who attended this event will agree that he was very entertaining and informative. Al's talk was followed by a delicious pot luck lunch with a huge variety of dishes. Thanks to all who helped to make this event a success.

The food and beverages will be provided by the OWLS with a free will offering to cover the cost. The pastors will again be cooking up the brats. Come one, come all for a great time!

The nation OWLS convention in St Cloud, MN at the Holiday Inn St Cloud. Many OWLS check in on Monday, after 3:00 or 4:00 pm to hear the first showing of Eugene's armchair travels that evening. This year it is their boat trip from Prague to Berlin. The direct dial number for the Holiday Inn is 1-320-753-9000. That way you won't be dealing, first, with some one in England or India.
Tuesday, September 2, 2008

Humor to close with:
The high school football coach wasn’t home when one of his players called to tell him he wouldn’t be able to make the big game the next day. When the coach’s wife informed the player that her husband wasn’t there, he became flustered. “Calm down and I’ll have him call you the moment he comes home,” she assured him. “What’s your number?” “Number 33,” he answered.
