O.W.L.S. is an organization of congregation members that are at least 55 years of age. It offers opportunities for involvement in fellowship, spiritual growth and service to the church. OWLS. meets the first Tuesday of each month at 9:30 a.m. from September through May in the Fireside Room at Bloomington Lutheran Church.
According to the national organization, the objective of the OWLS organization is "life enrichment (spiritual, cultural, personal, and total growth) for senior members of WELS and ELS congregations."
Over the last several years the efforts of 29 members of Bloomington Lutheran OWLS. have provided the following numerous material benefits to the physical property of Bloomington Living Hope Lutheran Church including:
- Repaired the kitchen floor tiles;
- Provided and installed clocks in the fellowship hall and the fireside room;
- Provided American and Christian flags for the fireside room;
- Stimulated a drive for the purchase of a new
refrigerator for the kitchen; and
- Purchased a new freezer for our kitchen (in conjunction with the Pioneers who paid half.)
The OWLS also conduct "Bingo Parties" at the Lutheran Home Association in Belle Plaine and provide the main body of workers for their Christmas decorating.
There are usually two or three strictly social events in each year (September to July).
