Our members have a strong history of supporting each other through prayer and frequently through financial support. This support has been seen on many occasions such as the death of a family member, a critical injury or illness of a loved one, a military spouse called to active duty, etc., etc. These same families may also find it difficult or simply impossible to complete other basic tasks for themselves and this too presents opportunities for us to reach out with a helping hand.
This ministry, Family Care Initiatives, is designed to provide opportunities for Families, Love in Action Teams or individual loving, caring Christians to help our members in need. The family needs included below are listed by family. They may change from day to day. • Owen Olson Family Care Initiatives
Owen Olson Family Care Initiatives – Our congregation has been well aware of Owen’s condition since his birth. In summary, Owen is now eight years old and has undergone at least 55 major surgeries in his young life. Those who have seen and met the young man marvel at his spirit, attitude and physical ability. Sadly, his number of major surgeries will continue to grow, and I am sure you can just imagine the level of emotional and financial stress on the Olson family. The Olson family can use our help in many ways such as the following:
- Clothes, food and other household supplies – These items are best supplied through gift cards to retail stores such as: Target; Cub; Gas Stations; Burger King (Owen's Hospital Food of Choice); Wal Mart; Home Depot (Home Projects); Menards (Home Projects); Kohls (Kids Clothes); Old Navy (Kids Clothes)
- Lawn Work: Mowing; Weed Wacking; Bare Spots / Pet Damaged Spots need of repair; Landscaping work in backyard such as planting bushes and shrubs; edging around lilacs/deck posts; red Mulch put down in back yard; patio / cement walkways for Owen to access; and (a “wish list and not a “need list” item right now) a swing set for the backyard.
- Other Outside Work -- Driveway Sealed; Stain Swingset; Fix Fence; Power wash house/windows; Paint porch & Trim around garage
- Financial Support needs: Hospital Bills; Credit Card Bills; Mortgage; 2nd Mortgage; Taxes; School tuition; and Utilities.
